A week of stimulating and exciting public master classes and concerts for voice, violin, cello, piano and conducting - 22nd to 29th July 2018.
Sarah Walker is internationally acknowledged as one of the world’s leading mezzo-sopranos, began studying singing with the legendary Hungarian teacher, Vera Rozsa, with whom she built up a huge repertoire ranging from Bach to Berio.
Since her debut at Glyndebourne, she has sung in opera houses all over the world including: the Royal Opera House, the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, the Vienna Staatsoper and many others. Among more than sixty roles in her repertoire are: Didon, Klytämnestra, Donna Elvira, Katisha, Mistress Quickly, numerous Handel and Monteverdi heroines and the title role in Britten’s Gloriana.
Although much in demand on the concert platform world-wide, where she has worked with conductors such as Kleiber, Norrington, Rattle, Solti and Haitink, her first love is the recital platform where she has perhaps received the greatest critical acclaim. She has made numerous recordings reflecting her enormous repertoire and can now be seen and heard at www.sarahwalker.com
Sarah Walker was awarded the C.B.E. in 1991.
