More news to share of brilliant LMC Alumnus conductor Darrell Ang.............NEW ALBUM on Naxos OUT NOW on all available platforms! If you don't yet know the music of French composer Gabriel Pierné (1863 - 1937), then you don't know what you're missing: so much wit, charm, colour & character in his music! On this album, bask in Basque flavour with music from his ballet 'Ramuntcho'; and discover in 'Cydalise' his incredible & masterful orchestration: it's the ballet that Ravel didn't write! #frenchmusic #classicalmusic #classicalmusician #orchestra #ballet #gabrielpierne- Nick Barnard, MusicWeb International, January 2022: "Attractive scores performed with brio and sensitivity. The playing of the Orchestre National de Lille is vibrant and alert yet also flexible and sensitive when required. Likewise Darrell Ang has the style of this music down to a tee."- Jean-Charles Hoffelé, ARTAMAG’, November 2021:"The virtuoso effect, its intoxication, are captured to perfection by the alert, precise beat, both dazzling and sensual ... of Darrell Ang who decidedly with the Orchestra National de Lille records beautiful records..."- Gerald Fenech, Classical Music Daily, November 2021:" ... (the) score is just gorgeous, brimming with luscious melodies, audacious harmony and ingenious orchestration. These two suites should win the work a legion of admirers. Darrell Ang keeps a tight but attentive reign on proceedings, and the Orchestre National de Lille responds with some superb playing full of energy and swagger."- Remy Franck, Pizzicato, November 2021:"Darrell Ang and the musicians of the Orchestre National de Lille play the elegant and picturesque music, here collected in two suites, with great and sparkling verve in an admirably light and, in the lyrical sections, also very atmospheric interpretation."- David Denton, David's Review Corner, November 2021:" ... the Suites demand a very wide range of orchestral virtuosity, the conductor, Darrell Ang, obtaining outgoing brilliance from the Lille orchestra. They have been captured in a perfectly balanced and detailed recording of superb quality. A disc with my total recommendation."- Steven Kruger, Fanfare, November 2021:" ...Darrell Ang turns out to be a spirited conductor, and Naxos has given him fine sound, with pleasant depth...I can’t urge you enough to listen to Gabiel Pierné. If you love Ravel and Roussel, you will thank me for Cydalise and the Satyr, even if early performances referred to it as Cydalise and the Goat Foot!" ... See MoreSee Less
