About the Summer Master Course 2018

Our 2018 Course will offer a week of stimulating and exciting public master classes and concerts for voice, violin, cello, piano and conducting in Manchester's Royal Northern College of Music from 22nd to 29th July 2018, with evening concerts and a presentation by Maestro Benjamin Zander.

Opening Concert July 22nd 2018

To Celebrate our 30th Anniversary Summer Master Course 2018, our Opening Concert on July 22nd will include performances by Sir John Tomlinson, Hannah Roberts and various star Alumni performers.
Full details will be announced in due course.

A Presentation and Workshop will also be given by Maestro Benjamin Zander, during the week as well as performances by selected participants in our evening concerts.

The Class will be accompanied by two pianos and string quartet. Repertoire for the Summer Master Course 2018 Conducting Class will be available shortly.

Who Can Apply?

There are no restrictions on age although the average age range is between 18 years and 35 years. This does not preclude younger people applying, but the standard is very high and participants include advanced students, winners of major competitions and young professionals.

Fees and Application

To apply, you will need to fill in and submit the online application form, together with a registration fee which is non-refundable.

Registration Fee

The Registration Fee is £20 (or the equivalent in USD or Euros).

The Registration Fee can be paid by PayPal, details of which are shown upon submission of a completed online application form.

Payment can also be made by cheque or bank credit transfer.

Please note that personal cheques must be in Sterling and drawn on British banks and that we cannot accept credit card payments, other than through PayPal.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees are as follows:

Conducting:
   £400 (or the equivalent in Dollars or Euros)
Violin:
   £400 (or the equivalent in Dollars or Euros)
Cello:
   £400 (or the equivalent in Dollars or Euros)
Piano:
   £400 (or the equivalent in Dollars or Euros)
Voice:
   £400 (or the equivalent in Dollars or Euros)

You will be required to pay the tuition fee if you are selected for the Summer Master Course 2018.

To apply, you will need to submit a completed Application Form together with recordings and a Registration Fee of £20 which can either be paid online using PayPal, by credit transfer (bank details available on request), or by cheque made payable to London

If you are accepted onto the Summer Master Course 2018, the Registration Fee will be deducted from the full fee. Other forms of payment can be made in any currency, but preferably in Pounds Sterling. Personal cheques must be in Sterling and drawn on British banks. We may have to make an additional charge if payment is in a currency other than
Sterling.

Bursaries

We do have a limited number of bursaries (some for the full tuition fee, some for part of it) available to those who are of exceptional talent and who would not otherwise be able to take part because of lack of funds.

Applicants for a bursary should send a letter explaining their financial situation together with an audio or video recording (CD/DVD/audition tape/video/online link) and two references from musicians of repute.

Auditions

If you are known to your respective Class Professor, it may not be necessary to audition.
Otherwise, an audition will be required and can be undertaken by sending an audio or video recording (or online link).
Audition material should include 2 or 3 contrasting works.
Instrumentalists should include a classical work e.g. Sonata, Suite etc or Concerto.

Vocal auditions will be held in London at the end of May 2018.

Accompanists

The resident accompanists for the instrumental, vocal and conducting courses are all superb.
Most have been with London Master Classes for many years and offer excellent support to participants.

courses anywhere!!

London Master Classes

Congratulations to LMC Alumnus conductor Ross Jamie Collins on winning 3rd Prize in the prestigious Jorma Panula 2018 Conducting CompetitionNo winner in the VII International Jorma Panula Conducting Competition

The first prize was not awarded in the VII International Jorma Panula Conducting Competition. The second prize was divided between Johannes Zahn (Germany) and Angus Webster (United Kingdom). The third prize was divided between Ross Jamie Collins (Finland) and Kaapo Ijas (Finland). Angus Webster was chosen as the competition orchestra's favorite.
